ENI the Mediterranean Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 was approved

The European Commission has adopted the new ENI CBC Med Programme, with 209 M€ for the area to start up jointly initiatives and to favour the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.

The programme, which is registered within the European Neighbourhood Policy framework, was launched in 2007 with the aim of promoting a harmonious economic and social development in regions located in both sides of Mediterranean sea, addressing common challenges and promoting local actions.

The new strategic of ENI CBC Med programme, which was adopted in the end of 2015, counts with the adhesion of 13 countries (Cyprus, Egypt, Spain, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Palestine, Portugal and Tunisia).

The first call for proposals is scheduled for mid-2016, after the signing of the financing agreements between the EC and the Mediterranean countries of the south.

The new strategic ENI CBC Med framework focuses on four thematic objectives (Business Development and SMEs, education support, training and research, social inclusion and combating poverty promotion, environment protection and climate change fighting) and eleven priorities.

Women and young people are the main target group of the programme, while cooperation “between people”, the development of institutional capacities and the respect for the democratic principles are cross-wise subjects all projects will take into consideration.
